Navigating to Language Settings

Language admins can navigate to update language settings by clicking "Manage" next to the language selector. If you are not an admin for the language, you will not have this option.
Identifying a Language

The language name is used in page names and language selection menus in the app. Because it will be shown to end users and not just translators, it should be the name as used in the target language, and not the English name.
The language code should be a three digit code from the ISO-639-3 standard maintained by SIL. This standard is used because it allows for more variations between and within languages. You can find the appropriate code for your language using this search feature by SIL. Changing the language code will change the URL used to access the translation and reading views for that language.
Language Text

The language font is used in the platform to render text in the target language. We use fonts from the Noto family because it is designed to accommodate every language in a unified design. Many older fonts developed for specific languages are not Unicode fonts, which makes them difficult to use in modern systems.
The language text direction is used in the platform to align text correctly for the target language. In the translation views especially, multiple languages are shown at the same time, so this setting is important for the text to flow correctly in the target language.
Bible Transations

The language Bible translations are used to show a reference translation when translating glosses for each verse, and in the verse preview of the lexicon. Not all translations are complete, so we will look through each translation provided in order until we find a translation that includes the verse in question.
Translations are sourced using fetch.bible and filtered using the target language's code. If you don't see translations for your language, double check the language code matches what is available on fetch.bible.
