We are working on tools to speed up the translation of glosses for the Reader's Bible. Our current system is quite primitive, but we have plans to use the recent development in generative AI to improve our predictions.
How we Predict Glosses
When a translator loads a verse, we use Google Translate to produce a gloss in the target language for each word in the verse. Glosses marked by the Google "G" are produced in this manner
As translators produce more glosses in the target language, we present a list of suggestions of all of the previous glosses for the specific grammatical form of the Hebrew or Greek word. This list is ordered by frequency, so that the more frequent glosses appear at the top.
The Future of Gloss Prediction
We want to improve our gloss prediction system using the recent improvement in generative AI. These AI systems should be able to use the verse in the original Hebrew or Greek, a translation of the verse in the target language, and glosses translators have already approved to predict the correct gloss for each word with much higher accuracy.
